For students sitting NAPLAN next year, Term 4 is a chance to get started at a comfortable pace. Students currently in Years 2, 4, 6 and 8 can use this time to strengthen their skills before moving into Years 3, 5, 7 and 9.
At SNH Tutoring, our Term 4 NAPLAN preparation classes focus on reading, writing, language conventions and numeracy. We help students practise the kinds of questions they may encounter, understand what each question is asking and build confidence in areas they find difficult.
Good preparation does not mean doing practice tests every week. It means working on the skills behind the questions. A student might need more practice finding evidence in a reading passage, organising ideas for a piece of writing, using punctuation correctly or solving a multi-step Maths problem. By identifying those needs early, we can give each student time to practise and improve.
Term 4 also gives students a head start before the new school year begins. They can become familiar with the assessment format gradually, while continuing to build the English and Maths skills they use in class every day.
